[CBI] Security Update

Dear Congregants,

Yesterday during Shabbat morning services, the Police were notified by the
Suicide Prevention Hotline that a person calling from a blocked number
through a computer claimed he was at

> 160 Millburn Avenue "in a bathroom and threatening to kill himself". There
were no threats to the synagogue. The Millburn Police Department arrived at
the shul within minutes and informed our Security Officer and the staff.
Along with our Security Officer, they immediately initiated a search of the
entire synagogue with negative results.

Unfortunately, while this is the first time this has happened at CBI, this
is not an isolated incident and has occurred at other synagogues. In
addition to the incredibly quick response of the Millburn Police Department,
the Chief Security Officer of the Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ
was on the scene and notifications were made to the Anti-Defamation League
(ADL), the Secure Community Network (SCN) and the Essex County Prosecutor's
Office. Upon completion of the initial investigation the Police and other
Law Enforcement stayed on the scene until the end of services. A big thank
you to all involved and once again it is important to know there were no
threats made to the synagogue or congregants. We take security very
seriously and will continue to partner with Law Enforcement and the
Federation in a professional and proactive manner.
