[CBI] One Millburn: A Community Conversation Around Race, Antisemitism, Belonging and Unity

Dear Congregants,

Many of you have been alerted about a recent incident involving antisemitic
speech by Millburn Middle School students. The incident has prompted
vigorous follow-up action involving local clergy, our school district and
community leaders. It has also made more visible an increase in expressions
of antisemitism, acts of bullying, hate speech, and religious, racial,
ethnic, and gender bias. This demands further action to address this
unacceptable behavior.

CBI participated in planning for an event that will be held on June 14 at
Millburn Middle School, from 6:30 to 8:30, "One Millburn: A Community
Conversation Around Race, Antisemitism, Belonging and Unity". I encourage
you to attend this meeting to get more insight into our local problem and to
find out what actions we need to take as a community.

This is just an initial response, and we expect to hear more in the coming
months from the interfaith coalition in Millburn (where Rabbi Isenberg is an
active member), from the Millburn School District and from community
leaders.
