Exploring Food's Importance in Jewish Culture, Identity and Ritual

Our schedule for the evening will be:

7:00 - 8:00 pm:  Special Shavuot-related cooking presentations by our Kadima
and USY Youth Groups

8:00 - 8:30 pm:  Evening minyan/Erev Shavuot services

8:30 - 10:00 pm:  Congregant-led study sessions and refreshments

CBI Celebrates Israel in NYC!

Sunday, June 4th // Ride the CBI Bus to the Parade in NYC!

It's so easy to participate in the Great NYC Parade: just park in the CBI
Parking Lot & board the bus!

Join the exciting fun and come together on 5th Ave. to celebrate Israel's
75th birthday! The parade is a fabulous family experience -- the walk is
approximately two miles at a comfortable pace, and you are immersed in a
huge gathering of supporters of Israel! CBI will march with Federation of
Greater MetroWest.

We will make posters beforehand, and everyone gets a 
T-shirt to wear!

Community Graduation Shabbat Dinner

Friday, June 2nd // at CBI

Join us for our Community Shabbat Dinner and Celebration of CBI's Graduates!

Bim Bam Shabbat for Young Families at 5:30 p.m.

A special Shabbat experience for our families with young children!

Traditional Catered Shabbat Dinner at 6:00 p.m

Eat, relax, and schmooze with your CBI friends.

There will be child-friendly, vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options
available.

Kabbalat Shabbat Service at 7:00 p.m.

Celebrate our 8th and 12th graders as they begin the next step in their
journeys!

We'll also be celebrating June birthdays! Come out for birthday wishes . and
a chocolate treat!

CBI's Pride Shabbat

featuring Peter Savastano, "The Overqualified Jew" 

NEXT Saturday, June 3, 2023 // 9:30 am // at CBI

We are thrilled to introduce Peter Savastano, PhD., a Professor of
Anthropology at Seton Hall University, and a member of the Department of
Social Work, Criminal Justice and Religion, as our Pride Shabbat Speaker. Dr
Savastano is a member of the LGBTQ+ community who recently converted to
Judaism (curious to know why?). One Rabbi at his conversion Bet Din remarked
that he is "overqualified to be Jewish". He teaches courses in Anthropology
and Religious studies, and is excited to share his personal and scholarly
observations and perspectives with the CBI community. 

Dr Savastano supports Circle of Friends, which provides scholarship money
for transgendered youth in Newark. To contact them, reach out to: Circle of

Ilana Tenenbaum is Retiring!

After 37 amazing years as our preschool teacher (not to mention 28 years as
a BBRS teacher too!), Ilana is retiring! Help us celebrate Ilana Tenenbaum
in style!

We are collecting monetary donations to be used to purchase new library
books in Ilana's honor, and focusing on the topics in our Pre-K 4s

CBI Alliance for Sustainability

In response to the increasing challenges facing the environment, it's time
for CBI to do its part to preserve and protect the natural world. We'll be
focusing on environmental sustainability through a Jewish lens, exploring
how essential Jewish teachings can inform our pursuit of a healthy and just
world. We hope to involve all members of the CBI community from preschoolers
to seniors. We'll be evaluating what we can do as a community and as
individuals to integrate a commitment to sustainability into our lives, in
order to be true partners in the ongoing work of Tikkun Olam. We invite you
to be part of it!
