Dear Congregants,

I am happy to announce that we have hired a new Executive Director, 
Rebecca Gallanter, who will begin on June 6th.

This culminates an extensive effort by the Executive Director Search 
Committee led by Ruth Kirshner. The committee worked very hard to find 
someone who is the right fit for CBI, and we look forward to working 
with Rebecca. My thanks to Ruth and the search committee for finding 
such a high-quality candidate.

I wish to recognize Steven Rod for his tireless efforts in his interim 
position as Executive Consultant and Operation Manager. In the few 
months he has filled the position, Steven has had a big impact in 
helping us run smoothly and creating a foundation for the future. He has 
been a pleasure to work with and we are grateful for his willingness to 
take on this important role.

After completing a careful and considered search process that began late 
last year, we are pleased to announce that Rebecca Gallanter will join 
CBI as our new Executive Director. She will begin on June 6^th .

Rebecca is a career professional in Jewish communal service, having held 
management positions at the JCCs of Staten Island, Metrowest, and 
Central New Jersey. Most recently, she served as the Executive Director 
of the Opportunity Project, Inc. here in Millburn. Rebecca earned her 
bachelor’s degree in psychology at SUNY Stony Brook and master’s degree 
in social work at Hunter College. Her 20+ years of experience has made 
her a highly skilled and talented executive who will come onboard 
understanding the needs of our congregants, staff and the community. 
Rebecca has told us that she is looking forward to returning to 
professional Jewish communal service.

You will all have an opportunity to meet Rebecca at the annual meeting 
on Tuesday, June 13, but we also encourage you to stop by or give her a 
welcome call or email starting on June 6. Her phone number will be

I also want to take this opportunity to thank Steven J. Rod, who has 
served as our Executive Consultant and Operations Manager since 
December. In the short time that Steven has been our ECOM, he has 
accomplished much, including cleaning up the membership rolls, rewriting 
the Employee Handbook, and guiding the staff and lay leaders. Steven 
(not to mention his wife Fran) is looking forward to going back into 
retirement after a period of transition to Rebecca and to returning to 
life as a CBI member.

Finally, I also want to thank the members of the Executive Director 
Search Committee. Their insights and guidance were so helpful throughout 
the process. The members of the committee are: Jamie Beneroff, Henry 
Bloom, Dan Dovdavany, Mariela Dybner, Nan Greenwald, Jamey Potechin, Amy 
Radin, David Sotnick and David Troll, with Steven Rod serving in a 
consulting role.
