This Shabbat at CBI

Friday Evening // 6:00 p.m.

Shir Shabbat Service at 6:00 p.m.

This early service is a traditional Friday night service with upbeat
singing, led with our clergy and children together. Children are invited to
participate in leading prayers. Come as a family and experience what Shir
Shabbat is all about 
 singing, prayer and spirit! 

This is the only service of the evening.

 

Saturday Morning

Shabbat Journeyers’ Minyan at 10:45 p.m.

SJM returns this week for more Shabbat morning learning! Jonathan Engel will
be leading a discussion on the multiple facets of G-d titled: “El vs. Ya:
Polytheism in Breishit or Who Wrote This Thing, Anyway?” 

Join us for what we are sure will be a very informative and stimulating
session.

 

JFL – Just for Learning // Just After Kiddush

An Update on Anti-Semitism in America Today

Several CBI congregants and Rabbi Resnick are attending
<https://www.neverisnow.org/> Never is Now, the ADL’s Annual Summit on
Anti-Semitism and Hate this week in NYC. Come hear the latest updates about
anti-Semitism in America today as they share their experience from the day
of learning. 

This will take place at 12:45, after Kiddush.

EDGE (Eclectic Discussion Group Event) is CBI’s informal discussion group.
These sessions draw upon the expertise, experience, and interests of
congregants to present programs on a variety of topics. Two topics will be
presented, with time for Q&A.

 

Your Eyes and Vision

Presented by Dr. Harold Wiener

A thorough discussion of and description of the parts of the eye: The
Cornea, Lids, Lens, Retina, Muscles. A look at eye disease that is
associated with ageing: Glaucoma, Cataract, Macular Degeneration, Diabetes,
Dry Eye. Plus, activities for eye care that are not usually discussed with
patients: Eye Movement, Stimulating Wetting of Eyes.

 

The Founding of Kibbutz Ketura and the Israel Ride

Presented by Dan Richter

How a group of American Jews set up Kibbutz Ketura in the Arava desert in
1973 and later formed a special school, the Arava Institute, which brings
together Israeli Jews and Arabs, Palestinians from the West Bank and Gaza,
Jordanians, and citizens from around the world to solve environmental
problems in the Middle East. Finally, how an amazing fundraising bicycle
ride in Israel helps keep the institute going.

to offer introductory sessions of “Family Favorites”!

Music Together® Sing Shalom music classes combine everything you love about
the internationally recognized Music Together early childhood music
education program with a carefully selected collection of familiar (and
not-so-familiar) Jewish songs from throughout the world. Music Together Sing
Shalom classes introduce Jewish themes, and celebrate community through
song, supporting parents and caregivers in introducing their children to a
diverse, culturally rich Jewish heritage. Taught by Samantha Ivins, a
leading music educator.

Full session to start in January 2020!

walk and talk. It’s a “moving” community and a great way to engage with CBI
friends!
