#SHOW UP FOR SHABBAT
One Year After Pittsburgh, Gather, Remember, and Act

Shabbat Service & Guest Speaker at CBI

TONIGHT! Friday, October 25 at 7:30 p.m.

Following the murder of 11 innocent Jews at prayer at Pittsburgh’s Tree of
Life synagogue last October, millions of people of all faiths rallied around
AJC’s #ShowUpForShabbat initiative, packing synagogues in what became the
largest-ever expression of solidarity with the American Jewish community. On
the one-year anniversary, communities will come together again for
#ShowUpForShabbat.

Our congregation will commemorate the anniversary with a Kabbalat Shabbat
Service this Friday with a special update on anti-Semitism in America — Just
Keep Going, No Feeling is Final — from Dana Levinson Steiner, Director of
ACCESS Global at AJC.

Let us honor the victims and raise our collective voice for a world free of
antisemitism, hate, and bigotry.

Family Shabbat Service

THIS Saturday Morning, October 26 

10:15 a.m. – Light Breakfast  // 10:30 a.m. Shabbat Service

Our first Family Shabbat of the year is this Saturday, beginning with light
breakfast. A vibrant Shabbat service filled with singing and storytelling,
including a special up-close look at the Torah as we read part of the weekly
parasha. Children take an active part in leading prayers and chanting Torah.
Parents and children will learn and pray together. We will join the
congregation in the sanctuary for the end of the service and enjoy kiddush!

Sisterhood Rosh Chodesh

Tuesday, October 29 at 6:30 p.m.

Join Sisterhood for its first Rosh Chodesh program of the year!

Catered dinner will be followed by a talk by Rabbi Resnick

brings together more than 700 original objects and 400 photographs covering
the history of Auschwitz and its role in the Holocaust ever presented in
North America.

own and a box lunch.

CBI STORIES

A Special Interactive Program for Teens & Seniors

We are proud to announce that CBI has received a special grant to launch CBI
Stories -- a collection of moments in history from CBI's older adults,
captured by teens and shared via Instagram through a combination of
interview footage and scripted reenactments. We are now seeking teens and
seniors for this unique l'dor vador project. Teens will learn about
effective visual story-telling while creating a personal bond - and working
on a project that makes a great college essay! Seniors have the opportunity
to learn new technology while connecting with our CBI teens in a whole new
way.

This year’s High Holiday Food Drive is being coordinated by the Men’s Club
as part of CBI’s AAA Hunger Response Program –Achlu Avyonei Ameicha, meaning
"the poor of your nation shall eat." We are collecting non-perishable food
items to benefit two of the AAA Programs: 

The Bobrow Kosher Food Pantry and The Interfaith Food Pantry of the Oranges.

The Art of the Nigun

Sunday, November 10 at 5:00 p.m. in the Chapel

This special edition of the chanting circle is going wordless! What is a
nigun if not a chant without words? Like chant, the nigun is powerful
centuries-old way of accessing a spiritual sensibility not otherwise readily
available to us. While our niguns will be contemporary, what they bring out
is timeless!

The intention of chanting is to awaken the divine in our hearts. It can
soothe the mind and at the very least is simply fun to do! No prior
knowledge of Hebrew or singing ability necessary 
 only a willingness to
join in spiritual community.
