Sunday, October 20 at 5:45 p.m.
Some Words from Rabbi Resnick:
Our community has been a part of several tragic deaths in the last two
weeks, including two former CBI members. All deaths are sad. These deaths
are particularly painful. Often in times like these, coming together as a
community and being together, side by side, sitting, praying and/or singing,
can bring some sense of comfort in times of such pain. Following the
services ushering in the holiday of Shemini Atzeret, Cantor Wallach and I
will lead the community in a service of comfort and healing (reciting
psalms, speaking and singing). The service is appropriate for all ages.
HaMakom Yinachem. May God comfort us in these sad times.

#SHOW UP FOR SHABBAT
One Year After Pittsburgh, Gather, Remember, and Act
Shabbat Service at CBI // Friday, October 25 at 7:30 p.m.
Following the murder of 11 innocent Jews at prayer at Pittsburghs Tree of
Life synagogue last October, millions of people of all faiths rallied around
<https://www.ajc.org/> AJCs #ShowUpForShabbat initiative, packing
synagogues in what became the largest-ever expression of solidarity with the
American Jewish community.
On the one-year anniversary, communities will come together again for
#ShowUpForShabbat. Our congregation will commemorate the anniversary with a
special Kabbalat Shabbat Service on Friday, October 25. Let us honor the
victims and raise our collective voice for a world free of antisemitism,
hate, and bigotry.
If you are unable to join us at CBI on Friday, October 25, please consider
joining the
<https://pausewithpittsburgh.com/?utm_medium=email&utm_source=email&utm_camp
aign=pwp&utm_content=GMWN> Pause for Pittsburgh initiative. On October 27 at
5:00 p.m., one year to the day since this attack, the community in
Pittsburgh will join in a public memorial service. Though we cannot all be
there in person, you can join with individuals and communities from around
the world to pause wherever you are and share in a collective moment of
remembrance.

that will contain a video with a mourning prayer and the names of the 11

CBI STORIES
A Special Interactive Program for Teens & Seniors
We are proud to announce that CBI has received a special grant to launch CBI
Stories -- a collection of moments in history from CBI's older adults,
captured by teens and shared via Instagram through a combination of
interview footage and scripted reenactments. We are now seeking teens and
seniors for this unique l'dor vador project. Teens will learn about
effective visual story-telling while creating a personal bond - and working
on a project that makes a great college essay! Seniors have the opportunity
to learn new technology while connecting with our CBI teens in a whole new
way.
