L'shanah Tovah U'metukah!

May you have a sweet, healthy and joyous 5780!

Dear Chevre,

Thank you for being part of our Congregation B'nai Israel community as we
come together for the sacred start to the Jewish year, 5780.

>From Selichot to Simchat Torah, we are blessed to celebrate these special
days together in the warm and welcoming environment that is a hallmark of
our synagogue. We hope you find sharing the High Holidays with Congregation
B'nai Israel brings joy, deep meaning and personal renewal. Our services are
both joyous and inspirational and foster reflection through communal prayer,
study and private contemplation. The themes of Reflection and Introspection
help define the Days of Awe.

Many, if not all of us, err in our interactions with parents, children,
friends, co-workers and others. This is the time of year on the Jewish
calendar which focuses on these relationships and gives us the space to
strengthen them.

This year, we are building on last year's innovative ways to foster a sense
of true community during the High Holidays. To this end, we will be
providing spaces for gathering in those times that you are not immersed in
prayer. In the school wing, during Rosh Hashanah, we will be hosting the
Rosh Roasters Coffee Spot in the open space outside the preschool director's
office as well as playrooms for families with young children. Please use
these opportunities to reconnect with old friends and welcome new faces to
our kehilla.

The Young Family Service for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur mornings will run
from 9:15 - 10:15 a.m. The Lev Shalem 'Parallel' Service will begin at 10:30
a.m. We welcome families attending the Young Family Service to stay for the
Lev Shalem Service, while also enjoying the 'play spaces' available in the
school wing.

We hope these improvements enrich and enliven your experience of the High
Holidays at B'nai Israel.

May we treasure our synagogue home as the center of Jewish life . for
ourselves, for our children and for future generations.

May we enter this year with renewed friendship and common purpose.

May we all be blessed with good health, strength and peace.

L'shanah Tovah U'metukah!

Paul F. Resnick, Interim Rabbi

Lorna Wallach, Cantor
