Rosh Hashanah Chanting Circle

THIS Sunday, September 15th at 5:00 p.m.

Join us in the Chapel as we ‘pre-prayer’ for the High Holidays at our
inspirational Rosh Hashanah chant and song circle with musical
accompaniment.

We focus on key verses from the High Holiday liturgy, exploring their
meaning. We then sing the text as we join together with our voices in simple
yet compelling, melody and rhythm.

The intention of chanting is to awaken the divine in our hearts. It can
soothe the mind and at the very least is simply fun to do! No prior
knowledge of Hebrew or singing ability necessary
 only a willingness to
join in spiritual community.

Our 9th Year Begins!

Selichot

Saturday Evening, September 21

7:00 p.m. – Mincha

7:45 p.m. – Maariv and Havdalah

8:15 p.m. – Selichot Service

Selichot, which literally means forgiveness, are poems and prayers said in
preparation for the High Holidays. The special service of Selichot, held
just prior to Rosh Hashanah, is designed to help us direct our hearts and
minds to the process of teshuvah, or repentance. We begin to examine our
deeds of the past year, seeking forgiveness from God, and promising to
improve our behavior in the New Year. Some of the prayers and music for the
Selichot service are taken from the services for Rosh Hashanah and Yom
Kippur. This provides a musical transition between the old year and the new
year.

Selichot gives us the opportunity to get ourselves “psyched” for the
intensity of the Yamim Noraim (Days of Awe). Rabbi Resnick will lead a
discussion on how we can all do this!

cyclists of all skill levels. Plus – Family Fun Day Activities!
