Community Volunteer "Pop-Up" Event at CBI!

Make "Back-to-School" Meaningful!

CBI is hosting a community-wide social action project where congregants and
friends will sort, pack, and create back-to-school goodie bags for students
in the public schools in Newark. This is a great activity for parents and
children to do together . right here at CBI!

Appropriate for families with children entering grades K-5; siblings
welcome!

Please consider bringing donations of the following new/unused school
supplies. (If you cannot make it on August 21, you can drop off donations in
CBI Office prior to event.)

Talmud Study with Rabbi Akiba Lubow

Monday Evenings starting September 9 // 7:30 to 9:00 p.m.

This class will enter the extraordinary world of the Talmud, arguably the
most important Jewish text after the Torah. While focusing on the Origins of
Jewish Prayer, this class also focuses on the traditions and theological
tenets that have stood the test of time, as well as practices and teachings
that serve as the foundations for the way we live Judaism today.

This class - entering its 3rd year - is appropriate for both beginners and
those who have already studied Talmud. Knowledge of Hebrew is not a
prerequisite as we will be studying primarily in English. While it is not
necessary to attend every week, a relatively regular pattern of attendance
will enhance understanding the course material. For those who are new to the
class (and pre-register), there will be an orientation to take place before
each of the first three classes during the 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. hour.

This Lifelong Learning class is free for CBI Members. There is a $36 fee for
