Dear Fellow Congregant,


You recently received a statement from Congregation B'nai Israel which
includes your Men's Club annual dues of $38. Here are our TOP TEN REASONS TO
PAY YOUR MEN'S CLUB DUES TODAY!

 

10.  Men's Club receives absolutely no funding FROM the Synagogue. On the
contrary, our donations TO the Synagogue provide important financial
support. As just one example, Men's Club made a special contribution last
year to help avoid an increase in the amount of your annual Synagogue
membership commitment!

 

9.  Our annual Men's Club Shabbat programming continues to inspire and
educate scores of our members. Countless men have learned new skills, or
enhanced existing talents, through their participation in Men's Club
Shabbat. And let's not forget the lavish Men's Club Shabbat dinner on Friday
night, and our delicious Kiddush and Cholent Contest on the morning of Men's
Club Shabbat!

 

8.  Each year, the eagerly-anticipated Men's Club Chanukah Dinner-Dance
gives congregants and their families a festive opportunity to celebrate
Chanukah together while honoring a special person as our Man of the Year.   

 

7.  Men's Club fields the CBI Softball Team, which competes against other
Men's Clubs through participation in a local league. Games are casual, with
just enough competitiveness to make participation fun and worthwhile. Men's
Club also sponsors pick-up Basketball. 

 

6.  Men's Club supports our BBRS Religious School students in a variety of
ways. For example, we participate in the annual World-Wide Wrap, which
unites people across the globe in learning about and using tefillin. We also
present each Bar and Bat Mitzvah child with a gift on their special day, and
we frequently make donations to our Religious School to support Holocaust
programming.

 

5.  Men's Club sponsors an enjoyable and engaging lecture at the Synagogue
at least once each year.  Recent topics have included "Jews and Poker", "A
History of Fiddler on the Roof",  "My Career as a Professional Basketball
Player in Israel", and "Jews in The Civil War".  And the best part: Men's
Club members attend most of these events for free!

 

4.  Men's Club is a proud sponsor of the AAA Volunteer Program, which is our
Synagogue's response to hunger in our community.

 

3.  Each year, Men's Club supplies the High Holiday Ushers and organizes
their efforts in order to maintain appropriate decorum at our services and
facilitate reflection and prayer by our congregants.   

 

2.  Through the weekly sale of Challah and annual sale and home delivery of
Passover wine, Men's Club facilitates observance of appropriate rituals by
our congregants. 

 

1.  Men's Club distributes yellow memorial candles each year, and encourages

congregants to light them on Holocaust Remembrance Day so that we and our
children will never forget the Shoah.  

 

Clearly, Men's Club is a pillar of the CBI community and participates in a
wide variety of programs that enrich the lives of all Congregation B'nai
Israel members. The statement sent from the Synagogue office includes a
charge for your modest $38 Men's Club annual dues. Please send your dues
check today, payable to "CBI Men's Club", directly to the Synagogue office
at 160 Millburn Avenue, Millburn NJ  07041. Your generous support makes it
all happen, and keeps us going!    

 

Please note that payment plans available for your Synagogue annual
membership commitment do NOT include payment of Men's Club dues.
