Special 2014 Adult Learning Opportunity
JTS Context Seminar at CBI
Could You Repeat the Question Please?
Re-Viewing Jewish History through the Lens of Responsa
Eight Wednesdays beginning Feb 5th (7:00-9:30 p.m.)
Despite having the Torah, the Mishnah, two Talmuds, and numerous law codes,
Jews have nevertheless turned toward their contemporary religious leaders
for a clearer understanding of Jewish laws and values, and their
applicability in everyday life. By examining individual and communal
questions and the answers they provoked, this class will consider the
underlying assumptions, attitudes, and aspirations of our predecessors and
acquaint ourselves with the lives of Jews across the vast expanses of time
and space. Designed for dedicated learners with a strong interest in focused
study, Context Seminars are designed for those who seek in-depth
explorations of specific topics in Jewish history and politics, arts and
literature, thought and ideas.
Back at CBI by popular demand, the instructor will be David Wachtel.
Additional details and registration for this special Context Seminar can be
